These pics are of myself and Greg Varveris' trip to Columbus, OH to see Rock on the Range - an amazing concert with a ton of great bands.  We had a blast and here's the pictures to prove it.
We found out after we got there that you needed wristbands to get on the main floor and they only gave them to the first 10,000 entrants.  Fortunately, the people we were talking to had extra wrist bands and they sold them to us for $5 each.  Not bad... we had a great view the entire time.  The view from the seats was ok, but nothing beats being in front.
The view from the right grandstands directly beside the stage.

This is the second stage they had setup beside the main stadium.  It was facing at a really odd angle so not many people got a direct view.

Breaking Benjamin was the first band on the main stage.

Here's the lead singer of Breaking Benjamin signing autographs.  We didn't do much "star hunting" - we just happened to walk by.

BuckCherry on the main stage.  I didn't think I would like these guys but they put on a great show and I ended up grabbing a few songs of theirs on iTunes.

Sorry... I just had to take a picture of this girl.  Yes... she's holding 3 Bud Lights and a Jack Daniels and it's still quite early.  The Ohio State education system in action.

Three Days Grace on the main stage - we got a little closer for this and were right on the edge of the crowd surfing and moshing.

Puddle of Mudd on the side stage.  I've been a fan of these guys for awhile so it was great to see them live.  The second stage area was totally packed.  Papa Roach played here last and from what people were saying, it was completely insane.  Unfortunately, we took that time to get food.  We were super hungry so I don't really regret it.

Chevelle on the main stage - they were ok and I know a few of their songs but not the best of the day.

Hinder on the main stage.  I knew a lot more of their songs than I realized and really enjoyed them a lot.  After Hinder, we started creeping our way up towards the front for the 3 band finale climax.

Velvet Revolver on the main stage.  Seeing Slash in person was pretty awesome and they put on a great show doing one STP song and one GnR song.  I didn't realize they had a new album coming out and they played some songs off there which I obviously didn't recognize so I was a bit lost, but they were awesome nonetheless.

Evanescence on the main stage.  This was actually a really weird show for us since we had seen them headline in Chicago less than a year ago.  In this festival format, they only had 40 minutes or so to play and they seemed really rushed and Amy Lee seemed kinda pissed off and irritated the whole time, like she really didn't feel like being there.   Totally different feel from their Chicago show where they were awesome.  It didn't help that we had gotten fairly near the front by this point and were constantly having crowd surfers going overhead...  was a bit hard to concentrate.  Still good to see em play though although the pics kinda stink - they were on just as it got dark, they played with low lighting and Amy never stops bouncing around the stage so it was rough to get good pics even though I tried really, really hard.

The event closed with ZZ Top.  It still seems like an odd choice to me... ZZ Top are classic rockers and the rest of the show was packed with current alternative bands.   The stadium really emptied out before they even got on stage which was weird since they were supposedly the "headliners".  By this point, we had gotten really close and ZZ Top put on just an awesome short set.  You could really tell they've been doing this foreverr and they rocked hard for a few old guys.  We really, really enjoyed ZZ Top and the pics came out great.

Overall, this was a really great trip.  I got to see my good friends, Bryan and Dave in Columbus on Friday night and headed to Dave and Busters for some great racing and a couple legendary games of NBA Jam (or something like that).  Was great to see them and the concert was more than worth the 6 hour drive.

Thanks for coming with Greg!  Thanks also to my wife Amy for watching the kids while I was gone.  Hope to do it again next year.  8^)
