Baby
Emily Nicole Mescher just minutes after birth. What a cutie!
Everything went great with the birth. Amy was due on Sunday the 11th but Emily
didn't want to come out so they scheduled an induction for 7:15am on Tuesday June 13th.
After paperwork and getting everything setup, they started the Petosen (induces
contractions) at 8:15. Amy progressed slowly for the first few hours but by 11ish
she was far enough along to get the epidural (numbs the pain). After the epidural,
things started going quickly and Amy's pain got really bad. As the baby came down,
Amy had a pain point that the epidural couldn't help so she was in a ton of pain for 15-20
minutes as the baby dropped.
From there, things sped up quite a bit. The baby was getting close by noon and the
nurses started calling the doctor and telling Amy not to push. Dr. Jensen showed up
about 12:15 and it was time. About 4 good pushes later, the baby was out and
immediately crying. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Considering I'm brown hair brown
eyes, I have no idea how we got 3 blonde hair blue eyed kids but we do!
The official birth time was 12:23, Emily was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 20 inches long.
Baby girl born at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL.
Mommy and baby are both doing very well and we praise God for a great delivery and a
healthy baby. 8^)

Emily
was a super good baby and while she cried some, for the most part, she ate and slept a
lot.
Mommy and daddy are very thankful for a calm baby. We'll see how calm she is when
she meets her brother and sister.

Here's
Emily with Amy's dad and step-mom Kay. Kay never was able to have her own children
and hadn't ever seen a birth so she asked if she could be there for Emily's birth and we
agreed. It was good to give her a chance to experience the miracle of birth in
person. :)

Ok...
these should be at the top but they are the boring pre-birth pictures and nobody really
cares about that. 8^P

A few
pictures of mommy in the week before we made Emily come out. The kids were funny...
they kept telling Emily to come out so they could play with her. hehe!

That's
it for pictures for now... there will be more coming after we get her home!
